How We implement TQM in the Manufacturing Process
How we implement Total Quality Management (TQM) in the manufacturing process. Total Quality Management is a management philosophy that aims to continuously improve the quality of products and services while increasing customer satisfaction. It was first introduced in Japan in the 1950s and has since spread throughout the world as a powerful tool for improving business processes.
The top 3 key principles of TQM are as follows:
- Customer Focus: The primary goal of TQM is to satisfy the customer by meeting or exceeding their expectations. This involves identifying the customer's needs and designing products and services that meet those needs.
According to a study by Krishnan et al. (2013), customer focus is a critical element of TQM, and companies that adopt this principle have a competitive advantage in the market.
2. Continuous Improvement: TQM is a continuous process that involves ongoing efforts to improve products, services, and business processes. This involves identifying areas for improvement, collecting data, analyzing data, and implementing changes.
As noted by Hakes (1991), continuous improvement is a key element of TQM and is achieved through a systematic approach to problem-solving and a commitment to quality improvement.
3. Employee Involvement: TQM recognizes the importance of employee involvement in the improvement process. Employees are encouraged to participate in decision-making and are empowered to make changes in their work processes.
